Kirsten Dryburgh

Kirsten Dryburgh has been creating ceramics and cultivating a community for potters in Tāmaki Makaura, Auckland since the 1990’s. Her highly experimental practice results in a wide range of domestic ware that is joyful, expressive and always providing a warm sense of home.

Kirsten Dryburgh has been a ceramicist since the 1990’s, working from her lush garden studio in Tāmaki Makaura, Auckland. Inspired by the joy of creating new objects for people’s lives, Kirsten’s expressive domestic ware offers exactly that, joy and a warming sense of home.

Kirsten has a rich creative background, with a major in sculpture from Elam School of Fine Arts and experience in floristry and illustration, all informing her artistic approach to pottery. Kirsten has a highly experimental practice, constantly expanding her reportrair and collections. These wonderfully varied ranges move from simple classical designs to more organically fluid forms, using an array of clays and glazes.

Over the years Kirsten has given her time and knowledge through her involvement in the potters community of Tāmaki Makaura; running weekly pottery evenings, workshops and an ongoing undertaking of interns in her studio.
